From the car park we loop behind Beacon Hill to gain war memorial on Overton Hill (Frodsham) through the upper part of Frodsham village and then follow the Sandstone Trail along the escarpment to Ridgeway Lane. Our next target is Helsby Hill, but instead of going direct we follow the Longster Trail to the village of Alvanley before turning north following North Cheshire Way in a northerly direction to then gain its summit from its eastern side. We continue west descending before we turn to start our return home below the escarpments of Helsby and Overton Hills to make a string in the tail last climb back to the car park.
