Brief Description |
This is an undulating, hopefully pretty walk with Spring flowers, all on good tracks, excepting 2 areas which may be muddy so I recommend walking poles. From the National Trust car park we will walk down to the river Bollin, then climb up, looking down the valley to Piggins brook, hopefully with sides full of bluebells. We then join Kings Road and walk back down to the park. Meander through a section of Styal woods towards the Weir, the outside cafe, benches and public toilets. After a short break there, we climb up, then across to another part of the woods. Down steep steps and crossing a bridge we have a short up, then gradual incline down to the river. After walking alongside it. We will then enter the gardens that are alongside the river. Then climb up to the second cafe (available toilets), where people can sit and have their own lunches outside, or buy drinks etc inside. Walkers can view the upper gardens and greenhouse in there own time, as this is the end of the walk. With your back to cafe there is a path leading straight back to the carpark. It can be extended by visiting Styal village and the chapel. Earlems cafe there is run by volunteers, it is to be recommended. Also the Ship pub for lunches. The choice is yours. |
