Brief Description This walk is a tour of a pretty part of Cheshire. Leaving Marbury Country Park the walk goes over fields to Anderton, passing the boat lift and Anderton Marina; a 2 mile stretch of the Trent and Mersey Canal takes us to the Salt Works Museum. We leave the canal here, cross over, pass through flashes (caused by subsidence) and regain fields and arable farmland to reach the pretty village of Great Budworth. Having passed through the centre by the George and Dragon pub, we walk a short stretch of Budworth Lane to, again, reach fields; these offer us clear views of the attractive Budworth Mere and carry us back to the car park. The walk is mainly flat, with occasional gentle inclines. Only one stile. A little road walking connects the different sections of the walk but these are fairly brief and, with one exception, are on pavements.
